Getting Started and Early Access

What is Workchats?

Workchats is a workplace communication platform that puts team messaging, voice and video meetings, file sharing, and search in one app. It is built for SMB and mid-market teams of 10 to 500 people in the UK, EU, and Middle East. The product is in pre-launch and is accepting Early Access signups now.

When is Workchats launching?

Public launch is scheduled for Q2 2026. Before public launch, the team is running dogfooding, friends and family (20 to 50 users), closed beta (50 to 200 users), and open beta phases.

How do I join the Early Access waitlist?

Enter your work email in the inline form on the homepage, then complete a short survey about your team size, current tool, biggest pain, role, urgency, and feedback preferences. You will hear from us as each rollout phase opens.

Is this a free trial?

No. Early Access is a waitlist, not a trial. You are reserving a spot and, for the first 100 to 200 signups, locking in Founding Member pricing.

What are Founding Members?

Founding Members are the first 100 to 200 Early Access signups. They get priority access during the rollout phases and locked pricing that follows them as the plans evolve.

Do I need a credit card to join Early Access?

No. Early Access is a waitlist. You only provide billing details if you decide to activate a paid plan once your account is opened.

Product and Features

What can I do with Workchats at launch?

At launch you can send direct messages, run public and private channels, make 1:1 voice and video calls, host group video meetings, share and preview files, search across everything, and sync your calendar. You also get user profiles, a connection system, multi-company switching, working hours, and granular privacy controls.

Does Workchats have video meetings?

Yes. 1:1 voice and video is included on every plan, including Starter Free. Group video is available on Pro (up to 25 participants) and Business (up to 50 participants). There is no meeting time limit on any plan.

Can I record meetings and get a transcript?

Yes. You can record meetings and get an AI transcription plus a summary with key discussion points, decisions, and action items.

Can I share my screen during a call?

Yes. Screen sharing is supported during 1:1 and group calls, with on-screen annotation.

How does search work?

Global search covers files, messages, people, channels, and links. You can filter by sender, date, and channel. There is no time limit on search history, so older messages and files remain findable.

Can I preview files without downloading them?

Yes. PDFs preview in-chat with pagination, so you can read a document directly in the conversation instead of downloading it first.

How much file storage do I get?

Starter includes 5GB per user. Pro includes 20GB per user. Business includes 50GB per user. Enterprise is unlimited.

What is the connection system?

Before you can send a 1:1 message to someone outside your immediate team, you send a connection request, similar to LinkedIn. This keeps inboxes quiet and stops cold outreach inside your workspace.

Can I work across more than one company?

Yes. Multi-company switching lets you move between organisations you belong to without signing out. Each company keeps its own channels, contacts, and settings.

Can I set my working hours?

Yes. You can set start and end times for each day of the week. Teammates see your hours on your profile, so they know when you are available.

Can I control what other people see about me?

Yes. Privacy settings let you choose who sees your role, last seen, tags, messages, and shared content. Each setting has three visibility levels.

Does Workchats have a social feed, events, or polls at launch?

Not at launch. Social Feed, Events, and Polls and Surveys are launching soon after the public release. They are included on the roadmap with problem-first framing rather than as paid add-ons.
